It is the end of the year and time to review what I have accomplished with my artwork. I did enter 2 shows, received recognition from one and sold a painting in another. So not bad since I only worked on my art part-time. So I need to find the time to work on a series of work and decide what direction my art will take. How does an artist find the time and know if the direction that they are taking is the right one?????

I am an artist. I find the time by setting aside at least one afternoon a week to do my art in a group setting at my studio with fellow artists. We each work on our own projects, but support each other with camaraderie and gentle critiques. Also, starting a blog, a monthly newsletter, and a personal website have helped motivate me and create sales opportunities. As for knowing if the direction an artist is taking is the right one, IMHO any direction an artist takes is the right one if he/she is motivated by artistic expression rather than sales. Congrats on your perceived successes this year, but I encourage you to consider yourself successful if you engaged in any artistic expression and enjoyed it!
Thanks Kristi Lyn for your support and encouragement
