Living in South Florida for the past 25 years, I have experienced 8 hurricanes. I am living at ground zero of climate change. I have been lucky to only experience minor setbacks from storms. But each year I see more algae bloom, rising ground water, beach erosion, higher winds and hotter weather. I never thought in my lifetime that I would be experiencing climate change so quickly.. Hurricane Irma was the first hurricane that I realized I might have to leave Florida and never come back. I packed my most precious belonging that would fit in my car, said a farewell to my beloved art studio and prepared for the worst. The hours waiting for the storm are very stressful, by painting this continuous series eases the anxiety that each storm season brings.
